Trump's Attorneys Meet Special Counsel Jack Smith Amid Mounting Grand Jury Investigations

Attorneys representing former President Trump met with special counsel
Jack Smith at the Justice Department on Monday. It's not clear what was
discussed, but it's believed the conversation focused on grand jury
investigations around Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential
election, his role in the January 6th insurrection and his mishandling
of classified documents. This comes after federal prosecutors issued a
subpoena seeking information about Trump's overseas business dealings
during his time in office. Special counsel Jack Smith is focused on the
Trump Organization's real estate licensing and development deals in
China, France, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab
Emirates since 2017. On Monday, the group Citizens for Responsibility
and Ethics in Washington reported Trump made over $82 million from his
businesses in Ireland and Scotland while serving as president.
Meanwhile, NBC News reports prosecutors have convened a separate federal
grand jury in Florida to hear evidence in Jack Smith's investigation
into Trump's mishandling of documents.
