Oklahoma High Court Tosses Suit Brought by Tulsa Race Massacre Survivors
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oklahoma's Supreme Court has dismissed a lawsuit from the last two
survivors of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre. An estimated 300 Black people
were killed when a white mob burned down what was known as "Black Wall
Street," the thriving African American neighborhood of Greenwood. Viola
Fletcher and Lessie Benningfield Randle are 110 and 109 years old. Their
lawyers say they will request a rehearing by the Oklahoma Supreme Court
and called on the Justice Department to open an investigation into the
massacre under the Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act of 2007.
