Truck Crash Kills Dozens in Central Nigeria Reports say at least 90 dead at busy market in central state of Kogi VOA News 20 December 2009 Reports from Nigeria say at least 90 people were killed when an out-of-control truck crashed into a crowd at a busy market. At least 40 other people were injured in the accident Saturday in central Kogi state. Nigerian officials say the driver of the truck lost control and crashed into several other vehicles and a nearby crowd of people. Federal officials say up to 55 people were killed, however reporters at the scene say at least 90 died. Fatal traffic crashes are common in Nigeria, where decades-old roads are normally pitted with potholes and drivers frequently fail to observe traffic laws.
