UN: April Deadliest Month in Iraq Since 2008 The United Nations says April was the deadliest month in Iraq since June 2008. The U.N. mission in Iraq released its count Thursday showing 712 people were killed during April, with another 1,633 wounded. It said most of the dead - 595 - were civilians, while 117 were members of the Iraq security forces. Nearly a third of those killed or wounded were in Baghdad province. The other most affected areas included Diyala, Salahuddin and Kirkuk. The wave of violence has raised fears of a return to the sectarian fighting that left tens of thousands dead in 2006 and 2007. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/un-april-deadliest-month-in-iraq-sinc e-2008/1652985.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/un-april-deadliest-month-in-iraq-since-2008/1652985.html
