                  South Korea Stops Anti-North Leaflet Launch

   South Korean police have stopped a North Korean defector organization
   from launching pamphlet-loaded balloons over the heavily guarded border
   into the North.
   Authorities blocked the Fighters for a Free North Korea and other
   protesters on Saturday from reaching the town of Imjangak, where they
   planned to launch their balloons. However, they allowed some
   demonstrators through to protest Pyongyang`s dismal human rights
   record.
   Local residents oppose the launches, because North Korea has in the
   past threatened to shell sites used to launch the anti-Pyongyang
   pamphlets.
