China Moves Against Key N.Korean Bank China is closing key accounts with North Korea`s main foreign exchange bank, the latest sign of China`s growing displeasure with Pyongyang. The state-run Bank of China says it is halting all transactions and shutting down its account with North Korea`s Foreign Trade Bank. A Bank of China spokeswoman did not disclose additional details. China`s move is its first public action against Pyongyang following international condemnation of North Korea`s latest round of saber-rattling. China is North Korea`s biggest trading partner and is considered to be Pyongyang`s economic lifeline. It is not clear how much of that trade will be affected by the move. The U.S. Treasury imposed sanctions on North Korea`s Foreign Trade Bank in March, following another round of U.N. sanctions. The United States says the Foreign Trade bank is a key player in helping Pyongyang fund its nuclear and ballistic missile programs. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/china-moves-against-key-nkorean-bank/ 1656174.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/china-moves-against-key-nkorean-bank/1656174.html
