Suspect in Ohio Triple Kidnapping Case to Appear in Court by VOA News The former Ohio school bus driver accused of holding three women captive in his home for a decade will make his first appearance before a judge Thursday. Prosecutors in Cleveland, Ohio have charged Ariel Castro, 52, with three counts of kidnapping and rape involving Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight. Castro is also facing a fourth charge of kidnapping involving Berry's six-year-old daughter, who was born during the ordeal. Police are conducting a genetic test to determine who fathered the child. Bound with ropes, chains ''All three women were kidnapped between 2002 and 2004 when they were teenagers or in their early 20s. Authorities say Castro kept the women bound in different rooms with ropes and chains, and only allowed them outside twice - to go to the garage on the property. News reports say at least one of the women was impregnated several times and suffered miscarriages. The women finally escaped on Monday after Berry's screams alerted a neighbor who kicked in the front door of Castro's house while he was away. DeJesus and Berry were reunited with their families Wednesday after a brief hospital stay. The third victim, Michelle Knight, is still in a local hospital. The arrest ''Ariel Castro was later arrested along with his two brothers, Onil and Pedro. But police say there is no evidence the two brothers were involved in the kidnappings. Castro was accused in 2005 by his late ex-wife of repeatedly abusing her, causing a number a serious injuries, and frequently abducting their two daughters. Cleveland residents and local authorities have expressed shock that the three women were held captive for such a long time without being discovered.
