China Investigates Top State Planner Chinese officials say a deputy chairman of China`s top planning agency is under investigation. In a one-sentence statement carried by state media Sunday, the Communist Party`s disciplinary agency said that Liu Tienan, deputy head of the Cabinets` National Development and Reform Commission is being investigated for suspected "severe discipline violations," a phrase usually reserved for corruption cases. The report gave no further details. The investigation into Liu comes as China`s new leadership under President Xi Jinping has pledged to root out widespread corruption. China`s official Xinhua news agency reported last month that prosecutors handled 3,657 corruption cases during the first quarter of 2013. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/china-investigates-top-state-planner/ 1659754.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/china-investigates-top-state-planner/1659754.html
