Obama Surveys Oklahoma Tornado Damage by VOA News U.S. President Barack Obama traveled to the midwestern state of Oklahoma Sunday to view the damage from last week's devastating tornado. Obama will meet with and console residents of the town of Moore, where 24 people were killed and more than 200 others were injured. Monday's tornado registered at an EF-5 - the strongest U.S. tornado measurement. It obliterated schools, neighborhoods and a hospital in the suburb which lies outside of Oklahoma City. The president has already declared Moore a disaster area and pledged to provide the town with everything it needs as it struggles to rebuild. The storm damage is estimated to be around $2 billion. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-surveys-oklahoma-tornado-damage /1668721.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-surveys-oklahoma-tornado-damage/1668721.html
