                      US F-15 Fighter Crashes off Okinawa

   Japan`s coast guard says a U.S. F-15 fighter jet has crashed off the
   coast of Okinawa, but that the pilot ejected safely and there were no
   casualties.
   U.S. military officials are still investigating the cause of the crash,
   which happened early Tuesday east of the Japanese island prefecture.
   The plane was flying out of nearby Kadena Air Base.
   The U.S. has some 47,000 troops in Japan, mostly on Okinawa. Some
   residents in the area are frustrated by the noise, pollution, crime,
   and risk of accidents they say are associated with the U.S. military
   presence.
