Ethiopia Begins Diverting Flow of Blueu Nile For Dam Construction Ethiopia has begun diverting the flow of the Blue Nile to make way for a giant dam, which is raising concerns in other countries. The government held a ceremony Tuesday at the construction site of the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam to mark the beginning of diverting the waters from the Blue Nile, one of the Nile River`s main tributaries. Both Egypt and Sudan have expressed concern that they will not have enough water to support their populations. Ethiopian officials say the nearly $5-billion project will not affect the supply of water. They also say that the dam will provide electricity not only for Ethiopia, but also for neighboring countries. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/ethiopia-begins-diverting-flow-of-blu eu-nile-for-dam-construction/1670141.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/ethiopia-begins-diverting-flow-of-blueu-nile-for-dam-construction/1670141.html
