Plane Crashes in Southern Russia; 61 Dead by VOA News An airliner flying from Dubai has crashed while trying to land in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. Russian state media say all 61 people on board the plane are believed dead. A government statement acknowledging the crash says the plane was a Boeing 738. Russia's Transport Ministry told RIA Novosti that there were no survivors. The FlyDubai airline has announced on social media that it is aware of "an incident" involving its flight FZ981 from Dubai to Rostov-on-Don. A local emergencies official in Rostov-on-Don said the plane caught fire after crashing.
