Meetup: Seattle MeFi 25 year anniversary BBQ

With MeFi's 25th anniversary coming up on Sunday July 14, WE'RE ON ~~I'm contemplating~~ Let's celebrate with a BBQ at my house in Seattle that day.

I live in Greenwood, within easy walking distance from either the E or 5 Metro bus lines. There's also plenty of street parking. The house has a large yard and deck (with a propane BBQ). Enter the yard through the gate in the fence in the driveway. Significant others and kids would be welcome, of course. I'll supply plates, cutlery, cups and napkins, and some food and drink. Please bring whatever you'd like to share. If you do know what you're going to bring, mention it in a comment.

If you're thinking about coming, don't worry about having to RSVP even a "maybe". It'll be great to have you here whether you RSVP or not. I have a croquet set and bocce balls if anyone wants to play. Well-behaved dogs also welcome.

I'll bring bbq beans, corn on the cob for all to grille and a meat of some kind to grille for myself. Editing to note that I am completely flexible on the sides if someone else is already planning the same or similar.

There was a conversation about International District restaurant recommendations. If you were a participant would you please drop your recs in this thread? I have had a low hit rate with good Seattle dining experiences outside my own home.

Sure thing!

Kau Kau BBQ - 50+ years of Cantonese BBQ, specializing in their roast pork & roast duck but they also will do Thanksgiving turkeys in their style
E-Jae Pak Mor - Newer place, does Thai street food including their namesake pak mor steamed dumpling style
Phnom Penh Noodle House - Longtime Cambodian shop, new location but same family
Pho Bac - Pho specialists, they have a couple locations that each have a bit of a different focus on the rest of their menu
Harbor City & Jade Garden - Two dim sum places across the street from each other, commonly compared (go to whichever one's less busy at the moment you're there)
Maneki - Historical Japanese fare (1904, one of a rare pre-Internment history; also worth checking out the Panama Hotel & Tea House if you're there as the basement is really striking historically)
Onibaba by Tsukushinbo - Haven't been since they shifted; but Tsukushinbo was the other long-time surviving pre-Internment restaurant

There's more neat places I've left off, but much more and I'd end up listing most of the neighborhood

B and I have long been fans of the barleygreen noodles and dumplings at Shanghai Garden, though we used to meet Eastside friends at the Snacktoria satellite storefront when it was still open more often than trek down to the ID. Maneki is a friend's favorite birthday spot, and it is really good, though I've always been put off by having to make a reservation weeks in advance to get in.

Taste of Xi'an (also has a Westlake Center food court location)

YGF Malatang (hard to describe this one - it's an assemble-your-own-soup place, like a soupy version of a Mongolian grill. Also has a Bellevue location)
