Where in the World

Where in the World
'Where in the World' is an interactive web based game in which you try to locate notable places or historical events on a map. You are given a series of 10 locations to find on a map. You try to get the lowest distance between your guess and the actual location.
If you have comments, issues, questions, ideas for new locations, or ideas on how to improve the game, please let me know. Thanks!

This is a fun game but you need more questions! I played 3 rounds and there were repeats each time (which helped my score).

There should be a way for the map to wrap around when you're moving it so that you don't have to move all the way across if one question is in China and the next is in the USA.

Thanks so much for the feedback, any portmanteau. I really appreciate it! We have about 150 questions right now, and we are trying to add more each week. My husband is going to see if he can code it to prohibit repeat questions within a session.

Fun concept, good start on implementation (it'd be nice if it were harder to click accidentally while dragging the map, and a wrap-around map would kind of help but it's an impressive effort as is..) but it would be nice to have one's results scaled against others on a per-question basis. More people are going to be able to precisely locate Runnymede or Waterloo than the Nazca lines. How large your score is in the end therefore depends nearly as much on the mix of questions you got as it does on your location abilities.

The random questions are cool but have you considered turning it into a daily game or at least have a option to challenge your friends on the same set of questions for (mostly) friendly competition?

Cool game! I agree with Nerd of the North, though. Playing on my iPad, it was very easy to accidentally register a tap while scrolling to a location. For instance, I was scrolling from St. Augustine, FL to locate the Colossus of Rhodes, and accidentally placed it somewhere in the mid-Atlantic. Maybe add an "Are you sure?" step to account for accidental tap/clicks?

Fun game, though! Love it.
