       Keir Starmer doesn't need Gaza extremists' vote

       Almost everything that could go right for Sir Keir Starmer in the
       local elections went right — even the one thing that went wrong. For
       the votes he lost on Gaza show that he has made a big call, and has
       made it correctly.
        
       In the early spring of 1945 my father accompanied my grandfather Dolu
       to the railway station in Tel Aviv, seeing him off on what was
       supposed to be a short British Army assignment. But on the way there
       Dolu explained gravely that while the assignment was routine, he might
       nonetheless never come back. What he was contemplating might get him
       shot. He asked Dad to be sure to look after my grandmother.
