Heute morgen habe ich mal wieder das komplette System inkl.  der amd64
und 386 Kernel rekompiliert.  Ich mag es, wenn meine Uptime moeglichst
hoch ist.  Dennoch sind es diese kleinen Bugfixes und neuen Features,
die mich immer wieder regelmaessig das System neu bauen lassen.

Um ein komplettes amd64+386-System plus die dazugehoerigen Kernel zu
bauen und zu installieren, benoetigt mein fuji2-Fileserver ca. 30 min. 
Dann noch schnell die Kernel auf die Bootpartition /n/9fat
kopieren und es kann rebooted werden (was wiederum knapp 20 sec.
dauert).

Das klingt alles etwas angeberisch, aber das sind alles Dinge, die
weder kompliziert noch zeitaufwendig sein sollten.  Sind sie es, so
wird man die Leute nur schwer dazu bewegen koennen, solche Sachen
regelmaessig zu machen.

This morning I have again recompiled the complete system including
the amd64 and 386 kernels.  I like my uptime to be as high as
possible. Nevertheless, it is these small bug fixes and new
features, which make me rebuild the system on a regular basis.

To build a complete amd64+386-system plus building the kernels and then
install, my fuji2 fileserver needs about 30 min.  Then quickly move the
kernels to the boot partition /n/9fat and it can be rebooted (which
takes about 20sec.).

This all sounds a bit pretentious, but these are all things that should
be neither complicated nor time-consuming.  If they are, then it's gonna
be hard to get people to do things like that on a regular basis.
