Chi Nei Tsang, is a Taoist massage technique. It can be self applied or used as a treatment or others. The basic process consist of releasing trauma from our guts and internal organs. At first you circle your hand on the belly area. A gentle circular motion, warming up the area, approaching the belly carefully. A lot of people have resistance to be touch on the belly for many different reason. So it's important to be careful with the approach. The second step is to make small spirals with the tips of the figer. You can follow a greater spiral shape, from the belly button to the outter part of the belly. Use gentle pressure with the finger and only stay for a moment on each point, each time creating a small spiral motion. It's important to practice on you at first. It also feel really good. One thing that you'll discover as you move trough the belly is that some place are more tense, and some place are tender. A good understanding of the placement of your internal organs is also important. With the internal organs lined up just bellow the ribcage, stomach a the center, liver to the right, pancreas to the left, and bladder lower center. The colon raising up on the left, then crossing on top, to the right going down. The colon is important to know as there will be fecal matter moving around when you do the massage, and you want to help the movement, which is clock wise, as if you had a clock on your belly. After the spirals and the circular motion, there is what is called the opening of the gates. This is when the massage is centralized around and in the belly button. The shape of the belly button can tell a lot about what is happening in the guts. By massaging and stretching the belly button in different direction, you are releasing tension in different ways. The belly button is also our primordial connection to the outside, our connection to the mother. It's a very powerful energy point. I'm keeping these instruction quite simple for 2 main reason. First, self exploration with bring a lot of wisdom and knowledge, so I invite people to try it out first and see what you discover intuitively. Secondly, there are a lot of manual and courses online if you want to learn all the different views on this techniques. I've learned from different sources, but also rely on my on exploration. While working with Chin Nei Tsang, you can use breathing techniques. When you exhale completely you will have access to different place, and organs that you would reach otherwise. Don't apply too much pressure to start with. The fourth technique works directly on the organs. With a mild pressure being held, while the receiver of the massage exhale the heat from each organs. Tension leads to congestion. Congestion leads to inflammation. Inflammation leads to infection. Infection leads to illnesses. Chi Nei Tsang help relieve all of this. When you start, there might already by some heat developped in certain organs due to congestion and inflammation. By applying a gentle pressure and deep breathing a lot of heat can be removed. In Taoism this practice is also connected to a visualisation and a sound. Each organs has their vibration, and visualizing the proper color and creating the right sound can help release the heat of the organ. Practice on yourself first. Be gentle. Study a bit of anatomy. Keep note of your exploration. Don't try to remove all the knots your find on your first massage. Take your time. Self healing and self massage is a very solid foundation in rebuilding a healthy body mind connection!
