Cuba reported 1,008 new cases of Covid-19, 4 deaths and 664 medical discharges

At the close of this Monday, March 29, 2021, Cuba reported 1,008 new cases of COVID-19, for a cumulative 74,212 confirmed cases since March 2020. In addition, four deaths, Dr. Francisco reported in his daily television appearance on Tuesday.

Durán García, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap). Regarding the deceased, Durán García conveyed his condolences to family and friends.

He pointed out that it is a 90-year-old patient from the Playa municipality in Havana; an 86-year-old patient from the Holguín municipality, in this province; a 58-year-old patient, from the Plaza municipality, in Havana; and a 76-year-old patient from the Arroyo Naranjo municipality in the capital. All were contacts of positive cases and presented comorbidities that made their evolution slower.

Cuba dawns with 22,792 admitted patients: 3,447 suspects, 15,478 in surveillance and 3,867 confirmed (active cases), a figure that is increasing.

According to the specialist, 20,421 samples were processed in the 23 molecular biology laboratories of the country, of which 1008 were positive (4.94% positivity), 307 more than the previous day.

When this indicator reaches 5%, it speaks of a strong transmission in the territory. 2 963 852 studied samples accumulate, of which 74 212 (2.5%) have been positive.
