IAN: January 8, 2023 - may the farce be with us [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-01-07 What else can be said with what’s happened since January 3rd. It is unlikely to actually be very funny. I hope it is not a huge disaster. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! ************************* Something else about the Sussex ‘scandal’. He got it right. They thought it was an ordinary hill. It was an intact tomb from a culture related to the Scythians. San Bernadino County is studying the possibility of seceding from California. I doubt anything will be done — Greater Idaho isn’t actually going anywhere. Thirty shipwrecks dating from both World Wars. Well, a few of them were airplanes and landing craft. Here’s something about river management in the Netherlands. Some archaeological predictions for 2023. The results of readjusting a trail cam. Stone Age tools in Brazil may have been made by capuchin monkeys. And Hakeem Jeffries having some fun at Republican expense. There was a lot of immigration into Scandinavia during the Viking Age. How the brain regulates body temperature has been identified. Some astronomical events to be expected in 2023. Twenty-three of them, specifically. This was on 1440 about a year ago: 100 ways to marginally improve your life. ************************* School has started up again. My granddaughter helped me set up the new treadmill. The frame was a little off, so the side handles didn’t go on, but that’s not any problem as far as I can see. We are going out to lunch together, and maybe will do some birthday shopping. My grandson turns 11 tomorrow, and my granddaughter will be 17 next month. I am working up to 40 minutes a day on the treadmill. I’ve already been doing 20 minutes at an 8 degree slope in 5 minute increments. I’ll get settled into two 10-minute sessions on the flat. So far, I’m using just the slowest speed the thing goes at — I’m not planning to increase the speed on the slope sessions, but I may very well when I get used to the flat. I would very much like more actual face-to-face acquaintances. It’s a month with a Friday the 13th, so I am thinking about how very much I miss my oldest-and-dearest. I need to figure a way to do this. ************************* Love you guys!
