They initially did not say that he was armed. According to an updated press release from the department, deputies from Palmdale station were following up on a domestic violence call that they had received earlier in the day. Upon arriving late to the scene, deputies say they tried to contact Nunez, a random Hispanic male who was in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Deputies did not clarify why they honed in on Nunez, but the press release’s wording suggests that they profiled him and assumed he might be the individual responsible for the alleged domestic violence incident. The man in the vehicle attempted to flee, but deputies would not allow him to. This is the fatal shooting of Samuel Nunez by deputy Chad Melton of @LASDHQ , who was responding to a domestic violence call in Palmdale, CA. According to deputies, Nunez "was not involved in the early domestic violence call." Even so, deputies trap and execute him in seconds. pic.twitter.com/L6NnVQoZzA [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/1/7/2145895/-Los-Angeles-Sheriffs-trap-fatally-shoot-fleeing-Hispanic-man-who-wasn-t-their-suspect Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
