Ladies, This Won't Hurt a bit [1]

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, failed account manager, wants to ban abortions for pregnancies that continue beyond fifteen weeks. His minions in the Virginia state legislature have introduced bills to this effect. Youngkin did not want to broadcast his “pro-life” commitments while running for office. Now that he is limited to one term as governor, the dogs have been let out.

The Gov has his eye on higher office. His war on reproductive rights will serve him well among the pro-life component of the Republican primary electorate. However, going by recent polls, Youngkin has yet to break through at all in this dimension, polling close to zero, far behind the Mango Mussolini and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

I’m so old I remember when disgraced Republican Governor Robert Mcdonnell, later convicted of felonies, wanted to require pregnant women to have the gadget in the picture above inserted into their you-know-where. The ultrasound thing was previously enacted in 2012 but abolished in 2020 when Democrats took over the state government. The idea was to compel women seeking abortion to view an ultrasound of their fetus. No worries, lube is used.

Fortunately the Virginia state senate, albeit narrowly Democratic, will block Youngkin’s restrictions of reproductive rights, especially with the recent flip in a special election of a senate seat from red to blue.
