Game changer: Germany gives the green light to release the Leopards to Ukraine [1]

Good news: These might be on their way to Ukraine soon

Germany in its clearest signal relents after intense pressure from European allies.

From Deutsche Welle:

Asked what would happen if Poland went ahead and sent its Leopard 2 tanks without German approval, Baerbock said: "For the moment the question has not been asked, but if we were asked we would not stand in the way."

The Leopard was the big ticket item sought by Ukraine but their expectations were dashed by Germany seemingly more concerned with domestic considerations. Poland had already signaled they could deliver 14 Leopards to Kyiv on short notice to be followed by other European countries ready to commit some of their inventories too. However with Germany holding the export license and refusing to budge, everything was on a frustrating hold.

Germany acquiescing is a huge development as the Leopard is considered to be one of the most effective and potent main battle tanks in existence. They are also fuel efficient as they run on diesel and require less fuel truck deliveries. Hence, their ubiquity.

Poland being next door, the UKA will not have any difficulties with training on the Leopard and the logistics of the deliveries and their maintenance.

The Ukrainians have already shown they possess immense intelligence, courage, and resilience. Having the Leopards with all the rest of the weaponry promised at their disposal will prove decisive in lifting the stalemate and driving the criminal Russian mob from the Ukraine for good.
