So where are the stories? Where are the comments? I am searching for at least a full day for some substantial response on this site. There have been a few minimally recognized diaries, but nothing that hit the rec list and stayed there. Meanwhile we are actually treating the former guy’s skin tint as an interesting matter for discussion.

Don’t ask me to write one. I am doing my best right now to get it together after a personally difficult week which is intertwined with a long list of violent deaths in just the past few days. I am trying to catch my breath and sort out the myriad of feelings and observations I am making about the totality of this brutal execution. That included observing how and how much it is reported on all the media, how ordinary citizens comment or do not comment, how this case connects to what is a centuries’ long list of cases, what this means at this moment because there is a qualitative difference about this horrific tragedy. I just watched David Henderson on MSNBC state that this is a different moment. So I know that I am not the only person who recognizes this is still another horrific, brutal watershed.

EDIT — I am going to add my further thinking as it develops here:

I am barely able to form a coherent sentence about what is disturbing me about the silence on these pages, not the pages of other media. We are, of course, part of the larger media circus.

There are thousands of comments from ordinary citizens all over the web in response to articles from the NYTimes and the Washington Post, to YouTube videos, to Medium posts. Everywhere I look, I see hundreds and thousands of comments.

Why is this not happening here on these pages?

I somehow missed the Walton diary, but if I add up all the recs for all ten eight diaries . . .
