The culprit again is a few thug, depraved police acting like Rambo. When does this wanton killing of young unarmed Black men stop? I have been asking this question for the past twenty-years. Who in society is looking after the welfare of our Black men? Surely not the Black politicians we have entrusted to have our best interest for our family and community. All I see from this group of slick politicians is apathy and false outrage when another one of our beloved sons is slaughtered. A week or two passes and life is back to normal no new policy is made to curb deadly force by the police. It almost feels like our Black sons have targets on their back simply because they are Black! William Shakespeare said, “The fault is not in our stars, but in ourselves.” Yes, we, we are to blame for this continuous violation of our communities. Too often we become soft and weak after ten days. We get comfortable, we watch the Super Bowl, order our pizza from Papa John and life is great. In our living room getting fatter and more worthless to social justice. Like Fannie Lou Hamer said, “I’m sick and tired, of being sick and tired.” What to do? Stop everything! Sit down at your kitchen table and write to your senator and have some heat with you. Don’t write a sweet kiss ass letter, no, open up a can of whip-ass and demand that he or she lead the charge to get the #GeorgeFloydJusticeinPolicingAct passed. I’m not asking anyone to stand in front of a high pressure water hose, or have a 120 pound police dog rip into your leg, no, I’m not asking you to go to jail, or even get your head cracked open by a police knight stick. I am asking you to pull out a pen and paper and DEMAND from your senator action in short order. The Black community is in crisis and the trauma is only being enlarged as is our apathy.
