TSLA investment advice [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-02-03 Why is TSLA up 100% this month? At the end of 2022 I wrote two diaries about Tesla. The first suggesting TSLA was an all in buy opportunity: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2022/12/15/2142117/-Facts-not-emotion-TESLA-is-an-all-in-buy-opportunity And the second as a bit of an apology for the first when Tesla continued dropping precipitously. https://www.dailykos.com/blog/Robert%20Norman/ . Most comments ridiculed me, Musk, and TSLA as an investment. . In comments I answered a comment saying I had been and was buying TSLA all the way down. And that yes I had lost a lot of money in TSLA as well as almost every other stock I had invested in, including an ethical investment mutual fund PGRNX I am heavily invested in, and do recommend. It is doing as well as a mix of large cap, medium cap, and small cap mutual funds I have small amounts invested in for comparison. . . After my diaries Tesla dropped further. I believe it dropped below $100 briefly before closing at it's ultimate low of $101 something. . Today, approximately a month after TSLA low in early January, TSLA could have been sold today for $199 before closing at $189.98. It is up several dollars in after hours trading. . Woulda, coulda, shoulda, made a investment with 100% return in one month. . . Is TSLA a good buy today? Why? . What is TSLA? . What is GE? How do you value the stock? Is GE a generator company? A jet engine company? An appliance company? A financial company? . What is TSLA? Is it the Tesla car company? The big rig truck company? The Tesla charge station company? Tesla the solar roof company? Tesla battery company: Tesla car battery, Tesla battery wall, Tesla utility scale battery company? Regarding the latter. When you value that portion of TSLA consider that there is a six year waiting list for the Tesla utility battery that sells for something like six time the cost per Kwh of its competition. How do the other TSLA endeavors compare to the competition? . Valuations for TSLA among the financial advice online and print "knowledgeable" sources I have seen in the past month and a half have ranged between $25 and $380. They have been increasing lately though there is no significant information about TSLA to warrant radical changes in valuation. Most significant was an earnings report that was good. . If you have money to invest. I would put some in TSLA. But investing on the basis of advice posted to Daily KOS is not the wisest decision you could make. However, if you had done the opposite of everyone except me who has posted about TSLA you would be in a far better financial position. . (Hating Musk is silly. Despite all the despickable things about Musk there is no major company in the world that has done or is doing more to effectively address and motivate the whole world to address the global warming crisis. Tesla utility scale batteries void all the “what do you do when the wind doesn’t blow and sun doesn’t shine” arguments against renewable electricity. Fossil fuel companies have hopefully had their last hurrah of obscene profits. I’m putting solar panels on my roof and buying TESLA as my contribution to that eventuality. And because I expect both to be good financial investments for me.)
