Zenabu in Ghana has Given Birth to a Little Girl [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-02-04 Zenabu and her husband Haddi are from a small village in Ghana but they are currently living in the area of Accra. They came to John in Ghana some months ago for help because Zenabu was pregnant and in great pain. Being extremely poor, they were unable to seek any sort of prenatal care and Zenabu was afraid that the baby ‘wasn’t sleeping well.’ We managed to get her into the hospital and the doctors said that she was fortunate to have come in when she did. Several weeks later Zenabu and Haddi appeared at John’s door late at night. Zenabu was in unbearable pain and vomiting. I sent the funds to help but the service we used to transfer the money delayed in the delivery of it and she was forced to go home without care (later they did use the funds to get her to the hospital but I feel bad that it was delayed for 12 hours while she suffered) As things turned out Zanabu had to be admitted to the hospital several more times and we were all very worried that there was some serious problem or that the child might miscarry or be stillborn. Over Christmas Zenabu was in the hospital again and the doctors thought she might miscarry or go into labor but it turned out to be a false alarm. She was sent home to wait while we all worried. Well finally John sent me a note on January 31st that Zenabu had given birth to her baby, a beautiful and healthy little girl. John was very happy and so excited he could hardly type. As am I. We all fought hard (Zenabu, of course, harder than anyone) and now we have one more beautiful little addition to the world. I am always excited about children. They are pure love, and pure promise. Who knows what she may grow up to be? A great leader, an artist or musician bringing joy into the world, a great intellect sharing her wisdom with us, Or she may be a simple and modest friend and neighbor sharing her love with those around her. All good, all good. Well, I do not want to get too florid. I apologize for going into so much detail, above, but I wanted to show how much Zenabu has fought and suffered to bring this little soul into the world. She is a true warrior woman and deserving of great credit. As are all mothers, but she had had to fight more for her baby than many, perhaps. In a less happy note, Zenabu is very weak. She lost a great deal of blood and the doctors let her stay in the hospital but refused to treat her until we could pay (as they do there.) We finally managed to get the funds to help and she is all paid up. She will be released in a few days, if all goes well. John said when he went into the room to see her she smiled.
