Heroic Passerby Climbs Out On Seventh Floor Window To Rescue Toddler Dangling From Windowsill Above. It seems that after her mother went shopping, a three-year-old toddler used pillows and cushions to climb to the window ledge to look out, and slipped, and was strong and aware enough to hang onto the window pane, dangling completely out of her eight story window. The two pulled over and didn’t even really speak about it…. they just did it. Recalled Sabit, “We noticed that people were gathering and I immediately looked up and saw a girl hanging from the eighth floor.” Whilst another passer-by climbed onto the first floor awning holding an opened sack, lest the girl fell, Sabit, a father of four, and Sabito ran up the stairs to the seventh floor and calculated the apartment directly below the toddler. They banged on the door, quickly explained the situation and the residents allowed them to do what they came to do. “We knocked and fortunately they immediately opened the door.” After opening the window, he climbed out and stood on top of the glass pane and bottom frame. Said Sabit, “I did not have a safety harness so my friend held my legs. At that moment I didn’t think about anything, I just wanted to help the child.” He told the terrified young girl to let go and that he would catch her. At this point she was holding on for 15 minutes… let that sink in. But of course, she wasn’t having it and continued holding on for dear life. Reaching up, he grabbed hold of her legs and pulled her down, and grabbing her as she fell. He cradled her in his arms and told her that she was safe. And then he carefully passed her to Sabito. She was now safe and out of harms way. So, leaving the child with the neighbors, the two men continued on their way to work. “Afterwards, I went straight to work with my friend. Nobody knew that this would happen. We just saved the child and left, and in the news and social networks they suddenly began to call me a hero.” Indeed. It all changed for Sabit, as well it should. ( Remember friends, as I relay the rest, not to judge too harshly the world based on our privileged Western bubble :-) ) Up until then, Sabit had been earning money in the capital and sending it home to his wife in Kyzylorda. The city’s mayor, Altai Kulginov, hailed him as a hero, and the Deputy Emergency Minister Ibrahim Kulshimbayev, awarded him their Medal Of Courage. The ‘For Courage in Emergency Situations’ Medal. He was then offered a new job with much better pay, to be trained as a rescuer... and then the greatest award of all. He was given a new three bedroom apartment complete with something few residents of modest means have…. a television! Which enabled his family… his wife, daughter and three sons, to move from Kyzylorda to Nur-Sultan and live together as a family. And the government will pay for his children to attend private school and summer camp. And in the newspaper the next day, on the front page, was this… ‘Dear parents, this was a happy occasion when the child was rescued safely, but there are many other incidents with a tragic outcome. Never leave children unsupervised by adults! Do not leave windows open if there is a small child at home, because you could be distracted for a second, and this could end your child’s life or disable them forever.’ Reflected Sabit... “I do not consider my actions heroic. To me, everyone should lend a helping hand in such situations.” ( Friends, this bravery demonstrated itself in the ancient past…. in this case, eight months ago in May of 2022. Being that it was under reported and on the other side of the globe… I felt Sabit deserved his due. ) [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/2/5/2151161/-Heroic-Passerby-Climbs-Out-On-Seventh-Floor-Window-To-Rescue-Toddler-Dangling-From-Windowsill-Above Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
