Freshwater, salt water, take your pick.

freshwater turtles may be called terrapins.

mama sea turtle digs a deep hole and lays 60 to 150 eggs, covers them up with warm sand, and goes back to the ocean. The sun does the rest of the work.

Turtles on land also dig nests, and may lay anywhere from one to a hundred eggs.

They can be amusing pets.

And their relatives, tortoises, can get to be HUGE.
