Taliban Fighters Cope With the 9 to 5 Working World [1]

Sabawoon Samim, at Afghanistan Analysts Network, has an interview with five former Taliban fighters, now living in Kabul.

The interview seems to be striking a chord with readers, for the Talibs expressing their dissatisfaction with grind of the 9 to 5 (actually 8 to 4) workday world.

Quick general summary: they think that Kabul is a beautiful city; they like the urban amenities; they like the parks and outings to Qargha reservoir.

They don’t like the high rents, the traffic, and the crime of the city.

Their propagandized notions that Kabul is full of decadent evil get challenged:

I was of the idea that Kabul would be full of bad people, but to be honest, in the last couple of years, after we met some of the people living here, I realised I was wrong.

The best moment, in my opinion, is after a Talib expresses his disapproval of having a woman in his computer class, but another Talib calls him on it.
