10-year-old arrested after making a false mass shooting threat at school [1]

A fourth-grade student at Toledo Blade Elementary School in North Port, Florida recruited other students to commit mass violence at school. The threat of a mass shooting has then caught the attention of the North Port Police Department (NPPD). After conducting interviews and corroborating the threats, police have arrested the 10-year-old. The 10-year-old is facing felonious charges of making a false report to use a firearm in a violent manner.

North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison made a statement regarding the threat.

Please talk to your children about the serious consequences of making these types of threats, in jest or not. There are serious consequences. We are not playing around when it comes to the protection of our children.

This comes amid other threats being made to two schools less than an hour north of Toledo Blade. North Port is a city in Southwest Florida, located roughly halfway between Sarasota and Fort Myers.
