Silmiin

Latest update on my boys:

Silmiin chewed on one of my inhalers causing tremors, a mad racing heartbeat, hyperactivity (hard to spot in a dog that hyper) and a huge increase in thirst.

I have had asthma since I moved to Nashville and have inhalers spread all over the house. This is the first time ever that a dog chewed on one of them, and I had no idea they are poisonous. They can kill a dog.

I can’t afford Pet ER visits, so I went to Dr. Google. One of the dangers is a sudden drop in potassium, so I made the boy eat 2 ½ bananas. He likes bananas but by the last one I had to put peanut butter on each piece to get him to eat it.

In a hospital setting they would give him some kind of beta blocker to slow down his heart, a valium type drug and a sedative. I gave him a Xanax and a sedative. Took him and the inhaler to my vet the next day. $90 later, the vet said he was ok, not going to die and probably was helped by the fact that the inhaler had expired 13 years ago. Ha!

Cooper and El Lel

My boys get along with all my cats, they even play with Tinker and El Lel (wrestle and everything), but of them all, El Lel is in charge. I was in another room and heard a loud “yelp” but didn’t think much of it. I walked by and Cooper and El Lel were just standing there. Whatever.

The next day Cooper had a runny eye and I realized he had gotten smacked by El Lel, probably for doing something he shouldn’t. I stopped at a pet store on my way home that day to buy the pricey Terramycin, a super duper ($40) eye antibiotic for pets. Cooper is all good now.
