Please don't smoke the plants. Good Morning, Cafe! Hope everyone is off to a great start. Pull up a seat, grab a cuppa and a nosh, and join us for some this’n’that. All are welcome to join the fun, the silliness, the conversations. If you don’t know...just ask! Some things really do require a bit of explanation. There will be a few surprises along the way, all good ones, we hope. We are here to keep building the Daily Kos Community. We post Mon-Sun at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. Pie fights will be met with outrageous ridicule and insults. Trolls will be incinerated and served at the next group BBQ. As briquettes. We’re all familiar with the Arthurian Legend. I came across this article over the weekend. In part: Thirteenth-century manuscript fragments discovered by chance at a library in Bristol, England, have revealed an alternative version of the story of Merlin, the famed wizard of Arthurian legend. Someone in northern or northeastern France wrote the text between 1250 and 1275. That means it was committed to parchment shortly after the Vulgate Cycle was first composed, between 1220 and 1225. Merlin’s image has changed dramatically over the centuries. In more modern versions of the King Arthur legends, he is a wise advisor to the king. In the earliest iterations of the story, however, Campbell says he was a “morally dubious” magical seer or even a “creepy little boy [whose] father is a devil.” I am still having so much trouble with the site, I am just going to leave you with a few things I found on Twitter, and invite you all to just chat about anything you like! Andrew Clyde (R - NRA), who said the January 6th attack on the Capitol was a “normal tourist visit.” 🤦‍♂️ The GOP is a terrorist organization. https://t.co/P4lkRVxox9 — 😱 Scary Larry 😱 🇺🇦✊🏻🇺🇸🗽 (@aintscarylarry) February 3, 2023 Maybe he should hand out these, instead! x Silverware Art pic.twitter.com/hJNBUPDRWX — Slater Jonathan (@SlaterJonathan4) February 4, 2023 New Day Cafe is an Open Thread.
