Tucker Carlson: Biden’s confirmation of 22 Black women federal judges is about ‘punishing people’ [1]

Biden judicial nominations and confirmations in the past two years have been historic. Under his leadership, the Senate confirmed 97 federal judges. White House chief of staff Ron Klain told NPR that Biden has made the judiciary his "top priority.”

"When he talks about rights and liberties, he knows that in the end, those rights and liberties are decided by federal judges, so the makeup of the federal judiciary is connected to everything else we do," Klain said.

But Carlson’s attitude about Black women has been clear over the years.

When WNBA player Brittney Griner was rescued from a Russian gulag, Carlson claimed that Biden “chose Brittney Griner over Paul Whelan” because “Whelan is a Trump voter” and Griner “despises the United States.” And it doesn’t need to be mentioned, of course, so Carlson mentions that Griner is “a lesbian” before quickly insisting that that should be irrelevant. Then why mention it, Tucker?

As The Root’s Stephanie Holland skillfully writes: “Griner is a high-profile queer Black woman who has been critical of the United States and the national anthem. Those are her rights as an American citizen, but for some, that meant she should be abandoned in Russia.”

Last November, The Daily Show mashed together clips of notorious Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes alongside the likes of equally deplorable figures such as Carlson; former White House political affairs director under George W. Bush, Matt Schlapp; Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton; Fox’s Jesse Watters; Iowa Rep. Steve King; and of course, former President Donald Trump. The racism is thick with these folks.

I could go and on, pointing out the numerous instances where Carlson and other Fox News hosts are hypocritical and racist, but it would be a waste of time. They are who they are, and that’s not changing anytime soon. But the good news is that the Biden administration has only added five white men to the overwhlemingly white male federal judiciary, and that’s worth celebrating.
