CNN Just Published a Factual Argument Piece [1]

Calling it “analysis” does not mean it will actually analyze anything. Often times, these will turn into Op-Ed pieces disguised as “digging in”, as it were. (Op-Ed, by the way, is opposing editorial, not opinion editorial.)

Recently, CNN has been painted as beginning to lean to the right, with fairly good reason. A lot of their coverage has glossed over some issues that would be deemed extremely important on this site. So it was with surprise that I ran across this:



Republicans held a hearing to prove Twitter’s bias against them. It backfired in spectacular fashion

The very first line of this article sets the tone, instead of burying it as the New York Times has been doing lately:



CNN — Republicans are living in a reality distortion field.

The entire article is about how Republicans have absolutely no footing on which to base their claims of unfair treatment from tech companies. Of course, this is specifically about Hunter Biden’s non-consensual dick pics and nonsense like that, but “liberal media” was keeping that “important news” from ever reaching the desired audience.

The article has a few choice bits that I’ll use to make my point that, at least in this article, they are just actually reporting facts.

Right-wing media outlets and personalities are happy to amplify these claims and spread them to millions of viewers who turn to them for their news. Fox News, for instance, hyped the GOP claims from the hearing on Wednesday, portraying the nonsense coming out of the hearing as if it were a serious affair uncovering considerable wrongdoing.

And it closes with:

And the hearing hinted that the Trump White House attempted to censor the speech of at least one American: Chrissy Teigen. When Teigen called Trump a series of expletives in 2019, Navaroli testified that she was told the Trump White House contacted Twitter and demanded that it be removed. Strangely enough, Republicans showed no interest in drilling down on this allegation of censorship. It’s no wonder why.

I’m probably close to the fair use limit here as the article isn’t too long. But it seems that, at least on this occasion, someone at CNN nailed it.
