This picture doesn’t show it, but it sits as an angle with the spout pointing out at an angle, very cool. I asked her about it and she said she wanted to use it to put a vine cutting in but... As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! That spoiled the esthetics of it for her and she was letting it go. I asked if I could have it because I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it. After researching that indeed, the label was there to stay, I put my plan into action. I went to Lowe’s and bought a hank of braided grass. It looked very “ocean organic” to me. I looked up what adhesives would stick grass to glass and found hot glue recommended. I was skeptical but tried it anyway and IT WORKED! So here is what I did with it. Front/nice wooden stopper Under the undulating sea grass is that label you see on the top of this diary. I wanted to cover all of it but leave as much of that beautiful blue glass open as possible. The side of it was was completely covered with labels from the spout to the bottom curve. It all had to be artfully covered. Here is what I did what that side. The side was the main area to cover. I made the medallions separately, leaving the cord attached on the top one to start going around the bottle to catch the front label. Then I wrapped it 3 times to be sure all got covered and added the bottom medallion. I swooped the rows to try to 1) keep that lovely raised glass logo that says “Ocean” but cover the text and 2) to mimic waves. wavy! I also made a medallion for the bottom to cover that label, not shown here. When this was finished, I was impressed with how it looked. It was almost impossible to see any of the text through the blue glass and the curve of the bottle. I sent pix to Lil Zen who was overwhelmed with the successful transformation. I offered it back to her and she snapped it up. I was doubly pleased! I assumed she would pass it off as a “hippy project” as happens between the generations but not this time. We both loved it. I can hardly wait to see it in her window sill with a vine draping out of it. Total cost: $4 for the grass. Value to the ecology: One less piece of trash. Value to us: Priceless.
