The FBI Hired a Convicted Felon to Infiltrate BLM Protests [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-02-09 In the summer of 2020, when BLM protests spread across the nation after the murder of George Floyd, a mysterious man entered the racial justice scene in Denver, CO. He was white with a ruddy complexion and half-ass goatee and drove, of all things, a silver hearse full of weapons. He wore military fatigues, arms covered in tattoos, and had a cigar hanging out of his mouth at all times. The man had a name, and infiltration was his game. He was Mickey Windecker, a convicted felon, who once fought, he said, with the Kurdish Peshmerga. He also claimed to be a member of the French Foreign Legion. As he worked his way up to the leaders of BLM protests, he was very convincing, yet somewhat scary, as a man who truly believed in their cause and was willing to fight for it. Just out of curiosity, was everyone here who might be reading this, also thinking at the time of the protests that something really fishy was going on with the violence happening at these protests and coincidentally, Trump and the FBI going on about Antifa and BLM and declaring them a domestic terrorist group while at the same time kidnapping protestors in Portland and whisking them away in unmarked police vehicles? Below are some excerpts from a detailed article by Trevor Aaronson who is a journalist, investigator and contributor for The Intercept and produced a ten series podcast called, the Alphabet Boys, the first one out Monday, February 6th. Here is a link for the full article: FBI Paid a Violent Felon to Infiltrate Racial Justice Movement (theintercept.com) “Denver was a hot spot during the summer of 2020, with protesters enraged not just by George Floyd’s killing in Minneapolis but also by the senseless death of Elijah McClain, who was forcefully subdued by police in 2019 in Aurora, a Denver suburb, and injected with a lethal dose of ketamine.” (I wrote a poem about Elijah that I posted to Dkos.) Ode to Elijah (McClain) (dailykos.com) “FBI payment receipt records signed by Windecker show that he was paid more than $20,000 for his work during the summer of 2020, when the FBI aggressively pursued racial justice and left-wing activists based on nothing more than First Amendment-protected activities. The story of the bureau’s infiltration of racial justice activist groups is particularly relevant now, as House Republicans launch a new committee chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, that seems exclusively focused on the FBI’s alleged targeting of right-wing groups.” “The FBI’s work in Denver, with Windecker as its eyes and ears on the street, demonstrates the falsity of that narrative.” “While on the FBI payroll, Windecker became an organizer of Denver’s racial justice demonstrations and ultimately undermined the social movement gaining momentum there by deploying the same controversial tactics the FBI used to devastating effect against Black political groups during the civil rights movement.” In an interview on the news show, Democracy Now, Feb.7, 2023, Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez speak to the targeted activists of Windecker and the FBI, as well as former whistleblower and FBI agent, Mike German, who details these tactics used by COINTELPRO to manufacture, stoke, and provide by every available means, the opportunity for committing crimes they would not have otherwise committed. Their purpose, to try to destroy the reputations of activists and their causes and stop them from accomplishing their mission. In short, to create cases where there would otherwise have been none. Had they accomplished their mission, left-wing activists, organizations and citizens would now have even fewer rights and would be subjected to even worse tactics by the alphabet boys, governors, and future and former presidents. They wanted to be able to say, “See, we told you so” to the country, forever blackening the eye of the racial justice movements. In this instance, they tried to provoke two leaders of the Denver BLM to go along with a plot to assassinate Colorado Attorney General, Phil Weiser, one of the FBI agents even offering up a hit man they could hire for $500 to do the job. Both activists declined and did not meet with them again. Unfortunately, Windecker did convince Zebb Hall, one of the activists to purchase a handgun for him for $1,500 of the government’s money. A year or so later, Hall was arrested for purchasing a handgun for a felon, which he was convicted of with a 3-year probation sentence. The Intercept article I linked to above goes into detail of the criminal felony history of Windecker, including statutory rape charges for having a relationship with a fourteen-year-old girl when he was twenty, which he got reduced to a misdemeanor, claiming he didn’t know she was underage. He committed crimes across four states and every time he could get out of it by snitching on someone else, he did. That was how he came to be an informant for the FBI. Watch the interview from Democracy Now’s show here: COINTELPRO 2.0: How the FBI Infiltrated BLM Protests After Police Murder of George Floyd | Democracy Now! “TREVOR AARONSON: So, I think it’s important to recognize that not only did Mickey Windecker try to set up activists like Zebb in specific crimes, but that he played a large role in turning what were otherwise demonstrations and protests into what became full-out assaults on police stations in Denver. Some of the most violent incidents that we saw in Denver that summer had Mickey’s fingerprints all over them. He was hyping them up. He was encouraging people to attend. He was encouraging people to become more and more violent. And so, at least in Denver, we have evidence that the government — a government agent was behind many of these protests that ultimately turned violent.” Windecker had created enough suspicion to warrant a Colorado Springs antifascist group to release a Twitter thread warning the protest leaders and protestors to beware of Windecker and don’t let him into your protest circles. So Windecker made a video to them in response, claiming he was in no way associated with the FBI and that whoever was responsible for the article was probably an FBI informant themselves. He pitted the protest leaders against each other, accusing them of being the informant in a well-known tactic used by the FBI to disrupt/break up racial justice movements, as they did with the Panthers in ‘60’s and 70’s. From The Intercept article, and in conclusion: “That was the extent of the plot Windecker and the FBI succeeded in engineering among the racial justice activists that summer.” “Many of the activist groups in Denver have splintered or disbanded. There was a lot of distrust. Activists there told me they suspected government agents had infiltrated the groups to encourage the violence that occurred, but until now, they’d never had proof.” “The FBI caused violence here,” Hall said. “They don’t want people to know that.” So, if you wondered why the BLM racial justice protests just suddenly ended, now you know why. (Note: I am not smart enough to figure out how to download a photo for this diary that I have authorization to use, so sorry so boring. I highly recommend reading/watching the linked articles and video for the full story).
