Wagner's band of murderers and convicts are being released engendering fear in their communities [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-02-10 Yevgeny Prigozhin: You don't want to mess with him This war is bringing home unintended and malevolent consequences to ordinary Russians. You know the narodniks who live far from the well shod in Moscow and St. Petersburg. They have borne the brunt of Russia’s brutal mobilization which have hundreds of thousands thrown to the front, ill prepared, physically unfit, armed with outdated Soviet era weapons, left to find their way forward with outdated maps, and with barely a stitch to protect themselves from the freezing cold. Plain cannon fodder. There is another horror about to unfold. Yevgeny Prigozhin, Putin’s chef and Wagner head honcho organized the mobilization of thousands of prison convicts for Wagner’s stalling efforts to take Bakhmut in exchange for their freedom once they served out their contracts. Well, those convicts are returning home. These are not good people. They were in prison for very good reasons. Murderers, rapists, drug dealers, and serial abusers are being released back to their home towns. And it is terrifying those in their community who know them. From the Guardian: “Salmin was recruited into Wagner while serving a sentence for theft. But in 2011 he was convicted of murder. In the court’s description of the killing, Salmin and a friend got drunk while fishing at a local quarry and began to argue. Then Salmin grabbed a rock and hit his friend on the head twice. As the man continued to flail, Salmin held his friend’s head underwater until he stopped moving.” “In 2014, Kirill Neglin of Segezha was sentenced to 12 years in prison on counts of drug dealing and domestic abuse. After a bout of heavy drinking, he repeatedly hit and kicked his wife, terrorising her both at home and then following her to their dacha, where she said she silently endured another attack because she feared for their children’s lives.” Neglin has vowed retribution after his wife testified against him. “She won’t live long.” “We have known each other for many years,” said another acquaintance of Salmin. “He is not a pleasant person, in fact he is really dangerous. He is unpredictable. And he is back in town, yes.” You can add Prigozhin to the list of not particularly salubrious characters. He celebrated the murder of a Wagner deserter gruesomely bludgeoned to death by his mobiks by posting to social media. Putin’s war is going to fracture Russia irrevocably as ordinary citizens continue to pay the price and are left holding nothing but horror and fear. A time will come when they will revolt. The revolution will not be televised, will not be televised when that happens. It will not be on RT or Solovyov Live.
