C130 Search Track: Lake Huron [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-02-14 C130 search pattern Feb 13 for object shot down over Lake Huron, Flightracker24 is an open source for identifying and tracking aircraft all over the world. This is the track of a C130 (in red) searching for debris from the object that landed in Lake Huron. Similar patterns from two different aircraft off the Carolina coast were tracked on Friday and Saturday. Black line is international border. The yellow a/c is incidental location of a commercial plane at much higher altitude than the C130. The blue line is the track which goes all the back to Elizabeth City, NC. The track box from Flighttracker24 says it is an Air Force plane although E. City is a major Coast Guard HC-130 base. Either way I thought it interesting no closer assets were used for the search. First hand i know the Canadian Armed Forces have C-130s with excellent search capabilities. I’ll speculate that this aircraft has very specialized equipment for this kind of mission. I can find no similar search tracks for objects over Alaska or the Yukon. Which means nothing. The tracks only show up if the aircraft has a transponder turned on. Nothing earth shattering in the Diary. Just an interesting piece of the puzzle. Other DK aviation types might elaborate in comments. ### [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/2/14/2152890/-C130-Search-Track-Lake-Huron Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
