It took a while but MSM has found a flaw in Biden's SOTU [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-02-14 Taiwan’s Tech King to Nancy Pelosi: U.S. Is in Over Its Head The industry evolves at incredible speed, Chang continued. Even if the United States managed to build some high-quality factories with the spending Pelosi championed, it would have to keep investing more and more to keep those facilities up to date. Otherwise, he said, Americans would in short order find themselves with tens of billions of dollars’ worth of outdated hardware. A once-in-a-generation infusion of cash would not be enough. Chang, naturally, is not a disinterested observer of the American semiconductor effort. His company is a singular global power; its overwhelming importance in the high-tech supply chain has become a vital strategic asset for Taiwan as it gathers allies in an age of deepening conflict with the Chinese Communist Party. If China blockaded or invaded the island, the impact on TSMC’s operations alone would convulse the international economy. That is a strong incentive for wealthy democracies to defend Taiwan with more than blandishments about self-determination. Apparently it took a little digging, but main stream media has found a flaw in Biden’s State of the Union message. Morris Chang, the father of Taiwan's chip industry and a multi-billionaire, was not very welcoming of the news the US is investing in on shoring its chip supply. On Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan, Chang gave a luncheon speech that was very critical of the Biden’s CHIPS and Science Act. Chang accused the US of attempting to buy its way into the very lucrative chips industry, totally ignoring that the industry originate in the US. Main stream media appears to be the only Americans expecting Taiwan to be welcoming to US competition. Although Chang Pointed out some legitimate and fermentable challenges to the effort to restart chip production in the US, neither Pelosi, Biden nor the White House team leading the effort were moved by Chang’s critique. The White Houses’s response was, “stay tuned.” [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/2/14/2152974/-It-took-a-while-but-MSM-has-found-a-flaw-in-Biden-s-SOTU Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
