Speaker McCarthy;

Hours before the fifth anniversary of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida that executed seventeen and wounded seventeen, a gun-toting killer murdered three people and critically injured five more at Michigan State University, the Sixty-seventh mass shooting in America in the first forty-five days of 2023.

That amounts to one point four mass shootings per day.

The Michigan State mass murders remind us again of the troubling reality that even after massacres of innocent children at Sandy Hook and Uvalde, Republicans in Congress continue to hide behind their distorted claims that Second Amendment rights are limitless to justify their steadfast opposition to common-sense gun legislation.

Why?

Who doesn’t know the obvious answer to that question?

Simply stated, you and your Republican colleagues are in the business of trading human lives for gun lobby donations so you can hang on to wealth, power, and privilege.

While we currently have no reason to believe that Republicans in state legislatures or Congress will ever have the compassion, integrity, or courage it will take to protect the lives of the American people, we continue to hope that majorities of thinking voters will soon recognize that the only way to stop the madness is to vote you and yours out of office.
