A Story About SAM [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-02-15 A man was robbed and beaten, and left for dead, Dumped broken beside the road. An innocent victim who wept and bled, His future stolen like his coat. A priest came traveling that same way, The first to be passing by; But, he quickly turned his gaze away, And just left him there to die. A state official came later that day Where the injured man did lie; But, he quickly turned his eyes away, And just left him there to die. Then a stranger, Sam, happened on him, (Sam an outcast reviled by many). Yet he dressed the wounds, took him to an inn, And paid with his own money. Sam went out of his way to help The victim ignored by everyone else. Sam took the man’s care upon himself, Until he fully regained his health. Sam acted as the man’s real neighbor By showing true compassion — He was godly and righteous in his behavior, Putting his faith into action. ”What you do to the least, you do to me,” Is precisely what Jesus said; So what kind of Christian would you be To leave him there for dead? (by Jim Sharp) Most are familiar with this story; it offers a “litmus test” for us to examine our own heart toward others.
