I had an appointment Thursday afternoon, and groceries today, so I’m not sure what shape I’m going to be in today. I know Saturday I’m going to be *dragging*, and will be lucky to get out of bed. But that’s what the Steam Deck is for, those days. So if you don’t hear from me Saturday don’t panic, I’m probably in bed. I’ll try to get up and get on at some point, it may not be in the morning (or it may be in the morning and then in bed by noon). As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! Monday Youffraita Tuesday ejoanna Wednesday Pam from Calif Thursday art ah zen Friday FloridaSNMOM Saturday FloridaSNDad Sunday loggersbrat The kittens will be 7 months old on the 20th. A friend is paying for us to get them both fixed, and then we’re going to pay her back as we can. Bit is working on saving up for it, but we don’t want to have accidental sibling kittens before we can get it done. So she’s going to help and we’ll pay her back. Look how big Ivanova has gotten! He’s definitely a boy though. Ivanova weighs almost as much as Sophie at this point, and is about the same size. He’s all muscle though, no more kitten fat. They aren’t eating as much as they used to, not going through a growth spurt at the moment, but that’s good, their weight is good. Ivanova is all grey with darker grey strips on his tail and along his back. They’re subtle, but there. He has the Russian Blue double coat, and green eyes. He’s the more ‘standoffish’ of the two, and wants pets and laps when *he* wants them. He’s also the one who likes to knock things down. This morning it was my bedside lamp and my echo clock. Nothing broke, no one got hurt, just a rude awakening for me. I’ve started letting them out of the night time korral once Nizz is settled in bed and, on the nights she works, Bit is off and we’re not leaving the bedroom again until morning. Lyta is harder to get pics of, she’s smaller than Ivanova, but still growing. Lyta is all black but for a little white ‘dot’ of fur beneath her chin. She is harder to get pics of, because she moves more. She’s smaller than Ivanova, has yellow eyes, and doesn’t look like her Russian Blue mama at all. She’s the snuggle bug. She will sit in my lap or on my chest and just purr and rub on me. Lyta is definitely more my cat than Ivanova is. Ivanova is closer to Draco. They don’t like being separated from each other, even for a few minutes. They’ll lay in opposite parts of the house sometimes, but put one in the korral without the other and they’re both having fits. They are definitely a bonded pair. Lyta is more active than Ivanova, she’s more likely to be chasing toys and he’s more likely to just be lying there watching her. Lyta is the one who turns off my bi-pap in the morning to wake me up if I’m not petting her enough. They have more of the run of the house than when they were little. They play in the computer room now and they’re out more often. They still aren’t allowed in the kitchen though. There is too much in there for them to get into, including the food bags. They’re in a big plastic bin, but they’ve already gotten that open once before I could get to them. Days when I have spoons they are out more than days when I don’t. Also days when the kids are up and I have help. They’re fine with Sophie, but they still aren’t sure of Lursa. They play with her through doors (she and Ivanova pass toys back and forth), but face to face, she’s so big, they aren’t sure of her yet. We’re introducing them slowly, letting them take their time. And that is the kitten update!
