The Road Ahead?

So far there has been no repeat of last winter’s Omicron tsunami as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to recede throughout most of the world, including even in China and the USA. The non-Chinese global weekly death toll is now approaching historic lows not seen since the early days of the pandemic in March, 2020, though the US share remains stubbornly high — still over 50% higher than where we were more than 19 months ago when the Biden administration mistakenly thought Covid-19 was mostly in the rear-view mirror. The latest update of Airfinity's model estimates that China is still experiencing over 16,000 deaths per day (down from a late-January peak of 36,000), and that their cumulative death toll since December is now nearly 1.5 million.
