I lived in Ottawa from 1990-2000 working at RevCan. When I first moved there, I worked at the Fontaine building in Gatineau, just past the buildings depicted here (DND HQ is on the right). I have fond memories of taking the bus from Herongate to the Canal and skating to the Westin Hotel downtown, stopping for a Beaver Tail and Hot Chocolate and then a short bus ride to the office. This is a big deal, Ottawa rarely got above freezing from Jan — Mar, ever. From WaPo (gifted/free): The world’s largest natural skating rink is closed because it’s too warm
