Ghana Update- We are Losing Anabel [1]

Just a quick and perhaps final Ghana diary.

Anabel is a three year old girl in Ghana who was found wandering the streets. Her mother was mentally unstable and had abandoned her.

Homeless children found her and took her to John, who arranged for her to be taken care of in a nursery for small children. We have been trying to provide for her since then while we try to raise money for her mother’s treatment.

Anabel has come down with a skin rash and the institution has decided that they will not allow her to stay there unless she gets treatment, which we cannot afford until the first of the month. They have said they will return her to her mother, who is homeless and living as a prostitute on the street.

I simply do not have the resources to get her medical treatment right now.

This is a sadness and it breaks my heart.

(The other girl in the photo above is one of Anabel’s friends in the institution.)
