I started thinking about what topic I would write about this week. At first I thought about depression but discovered that I had already covered that in a diary about diabetes and mental health. I thought about portion control but I couldn’t think of anything new to say that I didn’t already say here. I’ve covered meal plans, reading nutrition labels and figuring net carbs. I couldn’t find anything new in the news other than California is still moving forward with their plan to produce their own insulin. It seemed like every good idea I came up with I had already covered. I have a new recipe for Pecan Pie Cheesecake bars, but I haven’t made it yet so I didn’t want to write about that. I guess you’re stuck with me blathering for a couple of paragraphs. my mom My mom went a couple days ago to have blood drawn for her A1c. She’ll see the endocrinologist in a week or so. I’m expecting her A1c to be up around 8 or 8.3 because she has been spending weekends with my sister. They almost always to out to eat for a couple meals and neither one of them would choose a low carb option to save their lives. My mom has an enormous sweet tooth so I try to send my mom easy low carb dessert recipes and make sure she has sugar alternatives and Carbquik on hand but there’s not much else I can do from 400 miles away. I’m still working on getting my husband to try a CGM. I think it’s just down to him filling out a form at work and then going online to get the Freestyle Libre trial offer. I think he could probably further reduce or actually stop taking insulin but he needs to test more often in order to do that (hence the CGM because he HATES fingersticks). My doctor appointment is coming up in early March. I got an e-mail from my doctor saying she had written the order for my bloodwork so I can make an appointment and go have my blood drawn. I’m expecting my A1c to be around 5.6 or 5.7. My doctor likes to have me do the bloodwork before my appointment so she can go over the results with me when I come in and answer any questions I may have about the results. I think that’s kind of good instead of having the bloodwork done after you see the doctor because if your treatment plan needs to be tweaked because of the results, you end up having to make another appointment to talk to the doctor about it. I guess that’s about all I’ve got to say. On to the poll! Please, please, please, if you have a topic you would like me to cover in the future let me know in the comments or drop me a kosmail. Coming up with fresh topic ideas is the hardest part about doing this every week so any input from you guys on what you would like to see would be appreciated.
