Prepare yourself ... Jimmy Carter is not going to be with us much longer [1]

President Carter was diagnosed with an aggressive melanoma which spread to both his liver and brain. Amazingly, at the age of 90. Amazingly, he survived this threat, though the treatment and a series of falls that followed largely curtailed the activities he had loved so much to do—building homes for others and teaching Sunday School in Maranatha Baptist Church at Plains, Georgia.

Though there have been reports since late in 2022 that President Carter’s health was fading, the Carter Center did no offer any specific information on what condition the 39th president is now facing.

For some of us, President Carter was the man who tried to restore honesty to the White House following Watergate, for many he has been the model of an ex-president, always seeking to make the world better in ways both small and large. The man from a humble place who never lost his humility, or his humanity, when burdened with the greatest power. Most Americans have never lived in a nation where he was not out there, weathering every storm, hammer in hand, showing us what could be.

His wife, Rosalynn Carter, will be with him. They have been married for 78 years.
