Thwaites tongue collapses! [1]

I am only a lay person looking at the satellite images, so grateful to Pakalolo for his diaries on this and B22a iceberg that first alerted us. The measure in the picture is below Thwaites Eastern Ice Shelf and it has been a learning curve to differentiate it from Thwaites tongue so I am taking some screenshots and getting them from public sources and if I have errors in accreditation I will listen and attempt to correct.

The date here is January 14th and correct me if I have it wrong but that is the Thwaites Ice Tongue, and it is collapsed above.Cloud cover is obscuring the TEIS between Thwaites and Pine Island Glacier which is undergoing major stress also. The importance of Thwaites is well documented by scientists and the media however it has not received any thing like commensurate attention in MSM.( main stream media)

The reports have a surreal quality for me when I check the latest information published in the Journal of Nature, realizing it is the 2019/20 season being referenced in the natural practice of careful peer review. The urgency of the situation is lost and hope for information about the multiple studies that are being conducted there now by the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration dims for me , but maybe it will not take three years.

Literally the forecast timelines for sea level rise have changed very little and are always 2100 before the problem gets here, and oh, we are going to fix it by then. I have never believed this and some quick speculation with a ruler says it goes up most the first foot in ten years easily. This is sloppy speculation I admit but every feedback loop is increasing faster at the poles just as predicted somehow we need to keep attention focused on this reality for any hope to save us.
