In the first national election that those not 21 could participate in, I was so excited to take part. And I was so glad.

Still very bitter about how so many powerful Democrats in the House and Senate continually sought to undermine him because of their own ambitions. Scoop Jackson and Ted Kennedy being foremost, but there were so many others.

That sort of arrogance, cynical ambition and betrayal, imo, led to the election fiasco of 1980. It is the true beginning of our current nightmare.

Not over it. To this day.
