Woke and the Unexamined Life [1]

Are Democrats woke? I hope so. It would be preferable if everyone were woke, not sleepwalking through their days, supporting zombie economics and political policies that only help the wealthy one percent.

The attack on woke is a central pillar of what’s been referred to as The Culture Wars, but which more accurately should be called Culture Bans as these aren’t wars between opposing forces but a victimizing and silencing of specific segments of the American people for the continued benefit of the powerful.

The attack on woke has been a campaign launched by those hoping to create a White Christian-Nationalist country (which seems neither Christian nor patriotic) from the remnants of pluralist society they aim to destroy, using language meant to divide and alienate. The hope is that no one but their victims will notice what’s really going on; that protests expressed by their victims will make the attackers stronger.

The attack on woke operates as the rhetoric supporting publicity stunts by politicians who do little to help their own constituents, with the result that citizens lack affordable health care (including Medicare expansion), secure and affordable housing, insurance in times of catastrophe, vital governmental assistance, and other necessities. The point is to use Angertainment to distract and confuse constituents from noticing the incompetency of their political representatives.

The attack on woke is camouflage for fascist tyrannical acts by politicians, such as: banning books; eliminating AP programs, or exchanging for such programs governmentally-approved indoctrination providing little academic benefit to students; regulating language within (and even without) educational institutions, with programs such as “Don’t Say Gay,” “Don’t Say Black” (see Orwell); policing bathrooms, genitalia, girls’ menstrual cycles, etc. The ultimate goal here isn’t only victimization of specific groups, but also elimination of public schools altogether. Thus, taxpayers might finally be forced to foot the bill for private schooling for the rich, and support indoctrination of the other 99 percent.

The attack on woke is a reformulation of long-standing campaigns against Black, gay, female, trans and marginalized groups, i.e. the Other that so often and conveniently is blamed for every failing in society since time immemorial.

Plans for alternative pedagogy have stated they will use the “Socratic Method” of teaching. Socrates says, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Sounds pretty woke to me.
